Tested in VyOS 1.4.0-rc1 , VyOS 1.3.5 and VyOS 1.5-rolling-202401030023
The configuration
VyOS 1.4.0-rc1:

The new implementation doesn't use IPset.
We need to check if it's still relevant and decide if it declare it WONTFIX.
Builds of 1.3 were made successfully since then, but if the issue reappears, feel free to reopen.
If it reappears, feel free to reopen.
@fernando Thanks!
i've re-checked with the new image from GCP and new cloud-init version , it seems to be working as expexted :

I stopped using conntrack-sync before I moved to 1.3 (which I am currently running) so I can't confirm either way.
I expect it's no longer an issue though and this task can be closed.
Should be a non-issue with the new firewall implementation.
No longer reproducible in 1.5
The CLI prevents that now.
I presume it's no longer an issue, but I'd like to confirm.
No longer reproducible, the underscore is displayed as expected.
If any new information turns up, feel free to reopen.
I suppose we need a clearer idea of what we do with sysctl values.
If the issue reappears, feel free to reopen.
I think we need to make a task with a clearer wording.
There are BFD profiles now.
Haven't seen those warnings in a while...
It's no longer in current, so this is done.
The new implementation has been working fine for a while now, but if anything, please reopen.
Our use of the utils module is quite consistent now.
Our container infeastructure is in place, any improvements should get their own tasks.
I suppose we should close it. Any additional tasks should mention specific issues with current cloud-init versions.
The new firewall implementation makes this no longer relevant.
Already supported in the current nftables-based implementation.
iperf was definitely updates in newer releases, so I presume the issue is solved.
Since the firewall group implementation was migrated to nftables native groups, the issue is no longer applicable.
The last old-style definitions are gone, so the tool is no longer relevant.
