hi,

as far as I can see we have already all in 1.2.X that is needed to get:

https://github.com/FRRouting/frr/wiki/Alternate-forwarding-planes:-VPP

to work. This could speedup forwarding a lot.

This will not go into 1.2 but we can try to do in 1.3 or later
it must be optional since we don´t want to lock ourself to intel platform

I mainly have 2 questions:

  1. Using DPDK may cause low configuration hardware to fail to install vyos?
  2. Is it possible to use DPDK and VPP to cause all services that depend on the system protocol stack to fail to discover the interface?

If you can provide users with options (the user decides whether to enable DPDK), that is what I always recommend
