Description

Original title: Latest versions will not boot past "can't open '/sys/block/*/removable' : No such file or directory"

When updating to the latest version last week, via 'add system image latest', the new image get stuck booting with message "can't open '/sys/block/*/removable' : No such file or directory" Tried today on a different router and same issue. Both are Hyper-V VMs.

Breaking change seems to have happened some time between 2026.03.10-0024-rolling and 2026.05.08-0041-rolling, as those are the last image I have that booted properly and the first one that I tried that wouldn't boot.

Also, I'm getting error

You can not select this edit policy, because you would no longer be able to edit the object.

when using the submit bug report button on the left bar. Had to open this with the button on the top menu and change the edit policy?

Narrowed it down to changes between 2026.05.05-0039-rolling (sig) and 2026.05.07-0040-rolling.

05.05 boots, 05.07 gets stuck.

Quite possibly this issue is caused by CONFIG_HYPERV_STORAGE=m removal in this PR - https://github.com/vyos/vyos-build/pull/1177

Is there a reason this commit isn't getting pulled into the nightlies? I'm looking at https://github.com/vyos/vyos-nightly-build/releases and don't see it in the changelog. Newer ISOs still won't boot.
