unsupported intel nic card when applying vpp config
Closed, InvalidPublicBUG

Description

I am new to Vyos. I have a mini PC, it comes with x553 nic(ID is 15c4), and I226-V(ID is 125c). I installed 2026.05-05-0039 rolling img. When I tried to configure VPP, I got an error that NIC is unsupported. From DPDK source code, seems both of them are supported. Is there a plan to update it to latest dpdk?

https://github.com/DPDK/dpdk/blob/main/drivers/net/intel/ixgbe/base/ixgbe_type.h
https://github.com/DPDK/dpdk/blob/38e659db052924ab54cffa71b8d0cc2e0d92258a/drivers/net/intel/e1000/base/e1000_hw.h#L207

I tried the allow unsupported nic config, when I commit it, it pauses for a few seconds, then errored out. error message is:
An error occurred: [Errno 2] VPP API client: read failed. VPP service.

from message under /var/log, I saw another error msg
ixgbe 0000:0a:00.0 0000:0a:00.0 (uninitialized): Software semaphore SMBI between device drivers not granted.

Any workaround?
thanks
Wei
