hi,

I think it would be nice to have an option which frr daemons are allowed to run. This could also save
memory on smaller systems.

Hi rherold!

There are plans to allow this, a daemon will not start before it is activated by creating a process in the cli, but as always there are some kinks to work out to make it work as expected.. eg. Config that is supposed to be syncronized between daemons will not automatically sync into the newly started process.. and so on..

Hi runar,

I don't think that this will be task that users do on daily basis. So it would be enough if you must restart the system in the first step as long frr has no own function for this.

The main issue is synchronization between all routing daemons and zebra, especially with "policy".
So you are getting strange things like a policy configured for zebra but the same policy not exists/applied for other daemons.
It is impossible to integrate it the correct way.
Reopen for 1.5, 2.0 if required and if it will be possible in the future with correct syncing between all daemons.
