Okay, I can reproduce the error with an errant copy-paste; not sure how that happened in the reported lines, but if I paste the url as the image name, the resulting error matches. I will leave open for the submitter's response/comments, but otherwise close as 'invalid'.
That is an odd one: I am not able to reproduce with those 1.5-rolling versions, but will raise priority for investigation.

I think that this should be addressed at the specific migration script:

Although there are open questions about avoiding migration, and specific ways to avoid it (boot flag 'no-vyos-migrate'), neither are the issue here: migration scripts should 'do no harm', and one invariant that can be enforced is that migration scripts should be idempotent; the above is not, as a result of:

I suggest the patch below to restore idempotency (which clearly can't break anything, since one would not have an empty string as inbound/outbound-interface); thoughts ?

Just to clarify the issue: note that one can specify the choice of serial console during the 'install image' process; are you not seeing the boot messages with this setting ? or are you unable to set it during installation ? Thanks.
